For much of the past quarter-century, China’s infrastructure story was easy to picture: apartment towers rising at impossible speed, highways cutting through new industrial zones, ports expanding into global trade arteries, rail lines extending the reach of urbanization. Beijing’s answer is emerging through a large infrastructure program organized around six national networks: waterways, next-generation power grids, computing capacity, advanced communications, urban underground pipelines and modern logistics.
