EDM Resources Inc (TSX-V:EDM, OTC:SWNLF) CEO Mark Haywood talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s activities at Resourcing Tomorrow 2025 and shared updates on its Scotia Mine in Nova Scotia.
Haywood said the company attended the event to raise awareness about its critical minerals project in Nova Scotia, a province he described as “growing in its mining identity.” He confirmed that EDM Resources is preparing for production at Scotia Mine, which hosts zinc, lead, gypsum, silver, and gold. He added, “The mine has about a 14-year mine life currently. Six to seven of that is permitted.”
He also highlighted recent assay results that revealed a significant surprise. While exploring for rare earth elements, the company discovered unexpected high-grade gold. Haywood said, “We were kind of a bit surprised where that came from,” and explained that historical reports had hinted at gold, but it wasn’t previously valued or examined.
EDM Resources is targeting Q3 2026 for production, with final federal permitting expected in 2025. Haywood pointed out the importance of zinc in green energy and infrastructure, noting, “Zinc has had a very, very strong demand.”
The combination of multi-element potential and strengthening commodity prices positions Scotia Mine as a key near-term asset for EDM Resources.
