Digitalbox PLC (AIM:DBOX, FRA:RLXB) CEO James Carter spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's new Creator Network strategy, aimed at accelerating video production, broadening audience reach and supporting future revenue growth.
The initiative has already recruited around 200 creators across brands including The Tab, with Digitalbox targeting roughly 500 original videos a month as it diversifies beyond its traditional text-based publishing model. Carter said the expanded output will help the company engage audiences across more platforms and open up further direct advertising opportunities, particularly in the student and entertainment markets.
He also addressed how Digitalbox is adapting to shifting social media algorithms, including Meta's push towards original creator content. Despite audience headwinds from the platform changes, Carter said the advertising market remains strong, with advertising returns up 20% year-on-year.
Carter highlighted the growing importance of on-platform revenue, which now accounts for around 20% of the company's total — a shift he said increased video output should accelerate.
Looking ahead, Carter pointed to audience reach as a key metric: Digitalbox has around 30 million followers across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, with total reach of roughly 600 million over six months.
As he put it, "It could well be transformational for the business."
