Blencowe Resources PLC (LSE:BRES) CEO Mike Ralston talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion at Resourcing Tomorrow 2025 about the company’s just-released Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for its Orom-Cross graphite project.
Ralston shared key highlights from the DFS, which includes a 15-year life-of-mine and forecasts a net present value (NPV) of US$1.087 billion with a 96% internal rate of return (IRR). According to Ralston, "It’s just an incredible project that... we've always believed is unique, at a time where the world needs a lot of graphite."
The company has only explored around 2% of its tenement area, suggesting a much longer production potential beyond the initial plan. The demand outlook for graphite remains strong due to its non-replaceable role in lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. Ralston emphasised growing market forecasts, suggesting 1.5 million tonnes per annum could increase to 3 million tonnes by 2030.
Looking ahead, Ralston outlined several upcoming catalysts for investors. These include results from a recent drilling program, a JORC resource update, offtake agreements, and progress on a two-stage funding plan. He also noted upcoming investor meetings in the US, where interest in critical minerals remains high.
