Drax has acquired full control of an additional 250MW, 2 hour battery project in Nottinghamshire through a tolling agreement. This is a capital light method of adding to the company’s flexible generation (flexgen) portfolio and building on the recent agreement to directly acquire 260MW of BESS capacity from Apatura as well as the route to market and optimisation skills brought with the Flexitricity acquisition. In particular it builds scale behind Flexitricity adding optionality to its portfolio.
